Every lane has enough players for a tournament; what it usually lacks is one person willing to hold the clipboard. If that is you, the working formula is smaller than it looks.
Cap it at eight teams for a weekend format — round-robin groups of four, then semis. Fix overs low enough that the schedule survives one delayed match, and publish the fixture list BEFORE collecting fees; transparency fills teams faster than posters.
Money stays clean when entry fees go to one account, every expense is listed in the group, and prizes are announced up front. The budget is boring on purpose: ground, ball stock, water, and a modest trophy outlast fancy extras.
Umpiring is the argument factory — solve it by rotation: each eliminated team supplies umpires for the next round, and the final gets the two most trusted neutrals. Disputes drop when everyone has stood behind the stumps once.
