Every election season, thousands of voters discover a misspelt name, a wrong address or a missing entry only when they reach the booth. The good news: almost every correction can be made online, from your phone, in minutes.
Start at the National Voters' Service Portal and search for your name with your EPIC number or basic details. If the entry exists but has errors, Form 8 covers corrections — name, photo, address, date of birth. If you have moved within the constituency, the same form updates your address.
If your name is missing entirely, Form 6 registers you as a new voter at your current address. Keep a photo ID and an address proof scanned and ready; the upload takes a minute each and the acknowledgement number lets you track progress.
The one habit that matters: check months before an election, not the week of it. Corrections take time to reflect, and the deadline for changes closes well before polling day.
